Lufthansa Consulting | Digitalizing Aviation

Lufthansa Consulting | Digitalizing Aviation

Over the past five months, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to deep-dive into the world of aviation, working alongside experts who compete at the forefront of this fascinating industry.

With this internship being my first management consulting related work experience, I received a seemingly overwhelming amount of impressions and gained a lot of experience in various areas. The topics I was assigned to contribute on spanned from general consulting tasks such as creating presentations or conducting analyses, all the way to digital strategy development for an aviation consultancy.

One of the most exciting projects I had the chance to collaborate on was the development of a comprehensive training program focused on the fundamentals of digitalization. This project not only allowed me to enhance my understanding of digitalization and digital transformation but also provided me with valuable insights into how companies are preparing their workforce for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in a rapidly changing industry. Working on this program gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of continuous learning in an ever-changing digital landscape.

My involvement in the development of a concept for corporate partnerships marked another significant part of my internship. I was tasked with driving forward a concept of how Lufthansa Consulting’s collaboration with other organizations, which support with digitalization projects, could develop in the future. This exercise was instrumental in broadening my perspective on how strategic partnerships can drive innovation and success, as well as shedding light on the complex challenges that come with corporate partnerships.

Contributing to a discussion paper on the broad topic of customer servicing in disruption situations has also taught me a lot. The topic of the paper was very interesting and particularly relevant in today’s world, where businesses must always be prepared for unforeseen service disruptions. Through this work, I’ve learned how to approach complex problems with a customer-centric mindset as well as receiving insights on how airlines go about maintaining proper communication with their clients even under challenging circumstances.

I also got to contribute to Lufthansa Consulting’s digital strategy by conducting Excel analyses, creating presentations and developing workshops on technical topics of relevance to the company’s overall approach to digital topics. These tasks greatly honed my skills in data analysis and communication and highlighted the importance of a well-crafted digital strategy in helping organizations stay competitive and innovative in a digital day and age.

In addition to the aforementioned projects, I was involved in the planning and organization of an internal exchange format on digital trends. This initiative aimed to keep the team at Lufthansa Consulting up to speed about the latest developments in the digital space and foster engaging conversations to always stay on the pulse of digital developments.

The internship was an overall excellent experience that significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. I was not only able to apply the knowledge I had gained in my studies but also developed new skills that I will carry forward in my career. The thing I am most thankful for however is the people I got to know there. The work environment at Lufthansa Consulting is extraordinarily supportive and positive while maintaining an exceptionally professional working atmosphere.

I am truly grateful for the last five months and my interest in the aviation industry has been sparked successfully. ✈️
